Senate Bill 140

• Establishes criminal non-support courts that can refer non-violent defendants to education, vocational/employment training, substance abuse treatment, or work programs
• Upon completion, the defendant may have the charges against him/her dismissed, reduced or modified
• If convicted of criminal non-support, you may be placed on probation or parole.  Payment of current and past due support amounts may be required.  Failure to pay may result in further sentencing.

Senate Bill 141

• Men are given the opportunity to challenge paternity judgments with DNA testing
• If the DNA results indicate that you are not the father, the court MAY remove any judgment of paternity, remove any past due or current child support orders, and change the child’s birth certificate
• If the DNA results indicate that you are not the father and you have been convicted of criminal non-support, you may request an expundgement of your record.
